Grafton Artsfest was born of a dream to present to the community one of the best cultural experiences one could enjoy in Australia and now, seventeen years down the track, that dream has been achieved.
If you have a creative mind, then Artsfest has something to offer to either begin exploring that desire or expand your talents, and you will be taught by Australia’s leading artists in their chosen fields of the arts.
Tutors are carefully selected not only for their art, but also more importantly for their ability to pass on their expertise to their students. Grafton Artsfest is a cultural event which is open to people who want to enhance and enjoy their creative abilities, gain knowledge and expertise in a field of visual or performing art and explore new ideas in a convivial atmosphere. It aims to provide an affordable four or six days of cultural activities which would not otherwise be available.
Grafton Artsfest is a non-profit incorporated body supported by local businesses and organisations. The committee believes that Grafton Artsfest is an important way of bringing the arts, audiences and whole communities together. It gives communities a creative focus, helps celebrate achievements and forge community identity, and is of significant assistance in generating increased tourism
An extensive array of workshops for the experienced and the beginner is offered. Exhibitions, performances and social gatherings extend and augment the Artsfest experience. High Profile and Professional Tutors: Artsfest tutors are selected from all over Australia and bring to this region fresh ideas and energy. As practising professionals and teachers, they excel in both their art and communication. Our tutors are chosen and presented in good faith. Artsfest is proud of its' tutors!
Grafton City is situated 360 kilometres south of Brisbane and 670 kilometres north of Sydney. The city is bisected by the Clarence River and was declared a city in 1855.

Grafton City owes much of its present day beauty to its early city fathers, who in 1866 decreed, “It is highly desirable that trees should be planted under proper regulations in the streets and other public places of the town”. The trees, including the renowned Jacaranda, now dominate the city and together with the rich legacy of early colonial buildings, carefully preserved, make the city a major interest to the visitor. Grafton is easily accessible with air, rail and road services and an hour’s drive will take you to one of the many beaches, national parks and other scenic attractions. September in Grafton is usually delightful; a light jacket may be required for evenings.
