Attend one week of art school with a choice out of 30 classes in a variety of media and styles taught by distinguished Australian artists. Held twice a year, summer and winter, in Bathurst at Charles Sturt University campus, classes range from contemporary to traditional and are suitable for beginners or advanced artists.

Winter School - 1st to 7th July 2012

Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to attend the School. Most workshops are designed to cater for art practitioners at all skill levels, however some workshops are restricted to specific levels. Each workshop clearly notes the level restrictions.

We welcome you to experience a getaway week of painting and learning attending the renowned Mitchell School of Arts in Bathurst at Charles Sturt University, brought to you by The Art Scene. After 30 extremely successful years developing with the art community, the Mitchell School of Arts Bathurst continues as a biannual creative art event that draws together artists and tutors from across Australia and internationally.

The professionally tutored creative art workshops are conducted over 5 days, which allows for intensive skill development. Many students & teachers blossom in this supportive learning environment, utilizing it as an opportunity to prioritise progress as an artist. Classes range from contemporary to traditional and are suitable for beginners or advanced artists. Whether your fascination is for watercolour, acrylic, oils or mixed media there is something to tempt everyone.

When looking through the extensive range of workshops on offer please ensure you read the outline of the skill level and the activities you are likely to undertake and the tutor biography to ensure your selection best suits your expectations for the week. We ask that you choose 3 workshops in case your first choice is oversubscribed or cancelled for a particular reason. Please note that class sizes are limited to 8-15 students depending on media and early bookings are recommended to avoid disappointment.

Where this school differs is that there are choices of packages offered to assist you. With tuition, accommodation & all meals; or tuition that includes lunch and snacks. Free evening activities are also organised for your entertainment throughout the week.
