The Three Sisters, Blue Mountains
Venues for workshop spaces include Korowal School Hazlehurst and Springwood High School, both in the mid-Blue Mountains.
Why Two venues?
Rather than crowd one venue with a large program it was felt best to use two venues which improves options for workshop spaces, and means that far from being overwhelming, the whole experience can develop the kind of ‘culture’ that only smaller numbers can provide. Fortunately, both schools have an ample supply of nearby bush, and access to it.
Value-Adding includes:
- an Exhibition opening at Braemar Gallery
- the option of guided Sunset Bush Walks each evening from 5-6pm
- the parading of works from the Darnell Collection at the Carrington, Sunday evening, April 15th
- Sizzling Storytelling at Korowal and
- a Celebration of Rayleigh Scattering (!) plus Cocktails at the Carrington - and more – including live music.
Why not join with a group of friends and Hire a House: the 7-night rentals are the best value and easy to source. We recommend Blue Mountains GetAways in particular. If looking for someone to share with, check out the Accommodation Noticeboard on TAFTA’s website and post your own requirements.

Where did this event come from?
TAFTA (The Australian Forum for Textile Arts Ltd) has been a not-for-profit arts organisation serving the textile arts for 25 years now. During that time some renowned international week-long ‘FORUMs’ were developed in various parts of Australia that grew in scope to include tuition in areas not strictly ‘textile’.
Now, building on this vast experience, TAFTA is keen to develop a model that sees the workshop experience enjoyed in a broader context that is only possible when many art forms come together. As a World Heritage site, the Blue Mountains seemed an excellent choice for its astounding natural beauty, and the range of accommodation available, plus there are lovely places to eat, shop and explore.
For an interactive enrolment form go to the TAFTA website or send an email enquiry.
