| John Ellison, Sunflowers |
Well known Katoomba artist John Ellison holds regular workshops in Art & Creativity. Over the years John has established a reputation as an innovative & original teacher in the field of creativity.
In her book 'An Authentic Life', Carolyn Jones commented, 'The Blue Mountains artist John Ellison thinks along the same lines. He teaches people to see with this inner eye.
He suggests that you can make a start by looking through a book of great paintings, slowly savouring. See how Van Gogh portrays the essential nature of a wooden chair, how Lloyd Rees is exalted to ecstasy by the quality of light over the Derwent; how Monet luxuriates, almost drowns, in the waterlilies of his Giverny garden. This exercise is designed to refresh your own eyes, to wash them clear in order to look at everyday things anew, to see them in more depth, to connect with them, to absorb something of their essence.'
