Wildlife Art
With the special inspiration that wildlife gives us for painting, this workshop will concentrate on how to bring animals to life, capturing emotion and character. Kate will explore the process of building a painting from the initial concept through to completion using colour, light and good composition to create mood and atmosphere.
Oil Painting Techniques
Through demonstration and discussion, Kate will cover the oil techniques she uses whether painting from life, photos or sketches in a warm, friendly and enthusiastic environment. Students will be encouraged to express and explore the vital elements of their own artistic process.
Wildlife Inspiration
Kate has loved drawing all her life. Living her early years in East Africa were filled with adventurous safaris, wildlife naturally became her inspiration. After settling in Australia, she was able to realize a childhood dream of riding and breading horses. Her fascination with these enchanting creatures also inspires her to portray their character and diversity.
Realistic Approach
Kate has expanded from graphic to oils in recent years and chooses a realistic approach, adding her own artistic expression to nature’s awesome beauty. Kate exhibits her work nationally and internationally and finds sharing her interests with others, very rewarding.
Wildlife Conservation
She also supports conservation through her work and was honoured to be invited as a signature member of the worldwide organisation “Artists for Conservation” Another honour was receiving the “Grand Teton Lodge Company Award” in 2005 in the prestigious “Arts for the Parks” in Jackson, Wyoning. Combining her two passions of art and nature into a career has been the most interesting safari of all.
