THE POWER OF OBSERVATION OF THE NYMBOIDA VALLEY IN OILS
Grafton Artsfest Artist-in-Residence

This workshop is a must for an artist wishing to take his or her work to a higher level. Students will be shown how to make vibrant, light-filled landscapes using colour and tone and to learn more about composition, colour harmony and subject selection.
There will be demonstrations by the tutor and the class will work on location if possible. Students with limited painting skills will find this workshop useful but experienced painters will see their work rise to new levels.

Robert Wilson was born in 1942 and grew up in the beautiful Towac Valley, near Orange. He has lived in different areas of the central west and won the first of his many awards in 1964 at the Parkes show.
Although Robert is self-taught, he studied under Arthur Murch and Henry Hanke at the Royal Art Society life classes. He has spent many years painting and observing the landscape, learning from it and from his fellow artists. In recent years he has studied in the USA, England and France. He spends most of his time travelling and painting in the Australian outback.
Robert has been painting professionally for forty years and taught his first class in 1964 at Forbes in western NSW. He has held workshops all over Australia and on Long Island, New York, USA, and taught for twenty years at the Mitchell School of Creative Arts, Sturt University Bathurst and for ten years at Grafton Artsfest. He has recently returned from an extensive painting trip in Italy.
He has had numerous successful one-man exhibitions and his works are represented in many important collections in Australia and internationally. He has on several occasions been Artist-in- Residence at the Ayers Rock Resort, the Renaissance Sydney Hotel and the cruise ship, Norwegian Star.
