Warm Glass
Shar Feil-Moorman is an internationally recognised Glass Artist, with numerous installations in private residences, commercial buildings and public art displays.
Shar has extensive experience in large and small scale glass (traditional and contemporary) that provides Shar with the knowledge to problem solve within the constraint of the medium. This has allowed Shar to forge a unique vocabulary and skill in Art Glass, which she is able to pass on to her students.
The following comments from Louise North in South Australia confirm what a talented artist and tutor Shar is.
“What an amazing five days! I was a complete beginner on day one, but we began interacting with the glass and learning cutting techniques within the first 30 minutes of the course starting. We never looked back, learning technique after technique, by actually doing it ourselves.
Shar is a patient and incredibly knowledgeable teacher, and lets individual creativity shine through. Learning in a working glass studio was another bonus, as was staying on site and having access to kilns and glass after classes finished for the day. This is a course that caters for those with experience and those like me, who just have a passion for glass and have only now acted on it. I'm still a beginner - there is so much to learn - but I had a wonderful time and feel confident enough to start searching for a kiln and enter the exhilarating world of working with glass. I have a lot of small pieces to take home with me to Adelaide. I am amazed that I created them. Thanks Shar for sharing so much of your knowledge in such a beautiful way. You are fabulous and so is your course.”
Shar’s studio is located in Buderim, a serene, contemporary/heritage village located on a small mountain in the hinterland of Queensland’s renowned Sunshine Coast. She runs regular 5 day workshops from her studio and has onsite accommodation available in a fully self-contained heritage Queenslander home.
Workshops in (warm glass) fusing & forming (jewellery, bowl/plate making), painting, open & closed casting, and kiln building knowledge.
